Volleyball as a sport and a means of physical education (part 1)
Game sports, including volleyball, can be considered as the highest form of sports games included in the world system of sports competitions, primarily at the level of sports of the highest achievements in its main manifestations: professional, non-commercial and professional-commercial.
Volleyball (Eng. Volleyballfrom volley – “volley”, “hit from the summer”, and ball – “ball”) – a sport, a team sports game, during which two teams compete in a special area, divided by a net, trying to direct the ball to the side the opponent so that he lands on the opponent’s court (to finish off the floor), or the player of the defending team made a mistake. Moreover, to organize an attack, players of one team are given no more than three touches of the ball in a row (in addition to touching on the block). The central organ of volleyball as an international sport that defines the FIVB Code of Practice is the International Volleyball Federation. Volleyball has been an Olympic sport since 1964. Volleyball is a non-contact, combination sport where each player has his own specialization on the court. The most important qualities for volleyball players are jumping ability for the ability to rise high above the net, reaction, coordination, physical strength for effective hits. For fans, volleyball is a common entertainment and a way of relaxation due to the simplicity of the rules and the availability of equipment. There are numerous options for volleyball that have budded from the main form – beach volleyball (Olympic type since 1996), mini-volleyball. Also, volleyball since 1992 in Barcelona has been included in the program of the Paralympic Games.
Volleyball can be considered as the highest form of sports games included in the global system of sports competitions. Volleyball,
It is widely represented in the program of the Olympic Games, as well as in professional sports. A large number of competitive technical and tactical actions, their combinations and diverse manifestations in the process of competitive activity of rival teams and individual players is an exciting sight, and also makes volleyball a means of physical education of people in a wide age range. Competitive confrontation of volleyball players occurs within the established rules by means of competitive actions inherent only to volleyball – game techniques (techniques).
In this case, the presence of an opponent is mandatory. In volleyball, the goal of each element of the competition is to deliver the subject of the competition (ball) to a specific location on the opponents ’site and not allow this to happen to itself. This determines the unit of competition – a block of actions of the type “defense -“ attack ”, which also includes actions for reconnaissance, disinformation, conspiracy, etc.
In individual sports games (tennis, table tennis, badminton, etc.), the sporting result completely depends on each opposing athlete (player). In team sports games, the team as a whole wins and loses, not individual athletes: no matter how good the individual plays athlete, if the team lost, then he lost, and vice versa, no matter how bad the athlete played, if the team won, he won. Thus, a sports team is as holistic a sports unit as an athlete in individual sports.
This specificity of team games determines a number of requirements for athletes, their views, attitudes, personal qualities, the nature of actions in a competition. Ideally, the athlete’s main psychological orientation should be the desire to completely subordinate his own actions to the interests of the team (even despite personal well-being, perhaps, to the detriment of oneself in one way or another).
In the presence of such an attitude, each athlete of a team cannot have a strong, well-coordinated team as a whole, even if it consists of individually well-technically, physically and tactically trained players.
Therefore, the education of collectivism, the ability to sacrifice one’s own interests for the sake of team victory, the desire to see and understand the collective interests at any given moment of the competition is the most important part, the most important task of preparing a player for team games. Practice shows that the very conditions of team competitive activity contribute to the upbringing of this attitude through the influence of the team on athletes. Often such an impact is very harsh, strong, effective, which develops a person’s personal qualities. In this regard, team games, the conditions of a sports life in them are an effective means of upbringing – naturally, with the corresponding activities of trainers, educators, teachers, etc.
