HOW TO CHOOSE A VOLLEYBALL NET
Modern volleyball nets are made according to the “no-knot” technology, from synthetic fiber (usually polypropylene) in a special way woven into durable threads. By the way, the thicker the thread – the more quality the mesh is considered. It also depends on the thickness of the threads how long the network will serve you. Typically, the thickness of the filaments forming a volleyball net is from 1.2 to 4.2 mm. According to the FIVB rules, volleyball nets must have a steel or kevelar cable of lower tension of 6-8 cords of lateral fastening.
The nets used for amateur volleyball or training, of course, do not necessarily meet the requirements of the FIVB – in such cases there are 4-cord side mounts, and the lower tension cable has less strength. Continue reading
